Old Port of Montréal
Because this extremely popular Montreal tourist site is an outdoor venue, the elements that make up its display and wayfinding street furniture must be very durable, with highprecision workmanship (panels are interchangeable from one structure to another) and a distinctive style.
To ensure this last criterion was respected, the 34 aluminum structures were assembled using a technique known as invisible, or concealed-plug, welding. Each panel is 5.25-metres (17 feet) high, which made them very tricky to handle in the studio, and is anchored on a galvanized steel base. The messages on these panels were printed with a digital printer, and laminated for greater durability.
